U2 are a rock band from Dublin, Ireland. Formed in 1976, U2 have consistently remained among the most popular acts in the world since the mid 1980s. The band have sold upwards of 170 million albums worldwide.[1] The band have had six #1 albums in the US and nine #1 albums in the UK and are one of the most successful rock bands of all time. They have won 22 Grammy awards,[2] more than any other recording artist.
U2 formed as teenagers in 1976, who at the time had limited musical proficiency, but by the mid 1980s they had released four albums and developed a devoted international following through almost constant touring. They then reached a level of mega-stardom with their 1987 release The Joshua Tree. Although U2 had already developed a reputation of pursuing new musical paths with each new album, in the early 1990s they replied to the dance music revolution, their own sense of musical stagnation and criticism of their image, with the critically acclaimed Achtung Baby and the groundbreaking Zoo TV Tour. The band had ostensibly re-invented themselves and during the 1990s their recording and live shows continued this experimentation and boundary pushing.
In the first years of the 21st century, U2 have pursued a more traditional sound with a continued high level of commercial success. They are politically active in human rights and social justice causes, such as the Make Poverty History campaign and the ONE Campaign, Live Aid and Live 8, Bono's DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade in Africa) campaign, and The Edge's Music Rising. |

If you only have one U2 album in your collection, this has to be it...There comes a moment every once in a while when everthing falls into place and lightening strikes...In the 90's it was the Joshua Tree. We all know the big ones 'With or Without You', 'I Still haven't Found', 'Where the Streets have no Name', but what about 'Red Hill Town', 'One Tree Hill', 'Mother's of the Disappeared'. There are no fillers on this album. Classic U2 - Music at it's best...Our grandchildren will be buying this in 30-40yrs time. Timeless, cannot recommend highly enough
Another one MUST HAVE...
And don't forget to burn the CD with CloneCD. |
