Shrek
Explore the world of Shrek the ogre in this activity-centered program, which lets players solve mazes, fill in crossword puzzles, and put together a computerized version of an old-fashioned jigsaw puzzle. Shrek: Game Land Activity Center has seven entertainment options for young gamers, from a sliding tile activity to a memory game played with a bird and xylophone. The activities in Shrek: Game Land satisfy two separate age groups, and might work best in a home with several young children, all working at different grade levels. Kids in preschool and kindergarten will enjoy image-oriented games like Sliding Tiles or Picture Mixer. They will also like Melody Match, a memorization exercise where players imitate the tunes whistled by a cheerful bird. School-aged users, on the other hand, may prefer to stretch their reading skills with a crossword puzzle or word search. Then there's Splat!, an arcade game that will please all users as they smash insects on Shrek's dinner table while avoiding the slugs he is saving for dessert. Each of the activities in this game is simple to master and, once learned, does not vary in the slightest. This brings the replayability of Shrek: Game Land down considerably. What's more, the game choices are clearly divided in scope: older children will find the picture games far too simple, while prereaders will be frustrated by the word challenges. The mix is an odd one and--when combined with the repetitive nature of the activities themselves--makes the game an optimal choice only for hard-core Shrek lovers. --Alyx Dellamonica

Tarzan
Ready for a jungle adventure of your very own? Then fire up your PC and install Disney's Activity Center: Tarzan for some fun with everyone's favorite man-ape. Professor Porter will guide you through more than 65 levels of Arcade-like action and creative activities to test your reflexes and your brain.
Based on the animated Disney film of the same name, you get to play as baby, young and adult Tarzan at different points in the games. Professor Porter has a map which you click to go to the different games waiting for you. You can record stories of your exploits in the Jungle Journal in English and then convert them to crocodile, elephant, gorilla or leopard speak. A printable decoder card helps you translate everything back, and you can e-mail it to your friends so that they can read all the secret messages you'll be sending them.
In Tarzan's Jungle Tumble, you control Tarzan through a 2D platform game as you make your way through the jungle, Elephant Falls and the ship, where you meet up with the evil Clayton and his thugs and try to stop their despicable plans.
Over in Trash the Camp Music Maker, the goal is to help the gorillas put together their own band with the various objects lying around the camp. When they're ready to go, you can click the victrola to record your song and play it back. On the sheet music screen, you can manipulate the notes and insert lyrics for your tune.
If you'd rather play a variant on Concentration, check out Fetch-the-Sketch. Your job is to lure the baby baboons out of the trees and reveal the sketches hidden on the vines. Keep playing until you find one which matches the sketch in Jane's book. On the first level you only have to match two animals which look alike, but in the second you have to match a grown-up animal with its baby and in the third you have to pair up animals with the sounds they make.
In Terk and Tantor's Power Lunch, you must help feed all the animals which have come over for a meal. Bounce the chameleon ball into an animal's square and then bounce it into the foods that animal likes to eat. Some of the squares are special ones and will change the game; the sloth slows the ball down while the cheetah speeds it up, for example.
Finally, you can sing along with some of Phil Collins' music from the movie in Tarzan's Sing and Swing. If you'd prefer to sing solo, click on the picture of Terk with her hand over her mouth and you'll only hear the music.
If you'd like to see how the music for the movie was created, check out the sneak peak video included on the CD-ROM.
All of the projects which you create, from the decoder cards to the personalized stickers found in the Adventurers' Stickers area, can be printed using special Avery supplies which you can buy at just about any stationery store.~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
Aladdin
With Aladdin Activity Center, Disney Software brings games, puzzles and art activities based on the story and characters of the movie Aladdin. Children will learn while having fun with the help of the Genius, Aladdin, Yasmin and other characters. The Aladdin Activity Center includes different activities that make it fun for children to learn spelling, exercise their memory and more. The first activity is a game where the Genius says an object's name and the child has to spell it correctly. Another game used to exercise the child's visual memory is a special card playing game that represent characters of the movie. With the cards facing down, the child must find the cards that match as a pair until there are no more cards left in the deck.
Many of the activities in Aladdin Activity Center are visually based. For example, kids must identify a pair of birds in a set where the number of birds in the set corresponds to the difficulty level chosen. All the birds are nearly identical and the only way to distinguish between them is the color of the feathers. It is easy in the beginning with a set of six birds but becomes tougher when there are more then ten.
Aladdin Activity Center will appeal to young children as well as their parents with the beloved Disney's characters. The animations are brilliant and with the music of the movie, the kids will love it. The icing on the cake is the music theater that features 6 film clips from the movie (over 100 megabytes long) and you will find yourself trapped in this theater watching over and over again excerpts of this superb cartoon.
Toy Story 2
Buzz, Woody and all the Toy Story 2 gang are on hand in this six-pack of entertaining activities. Cone Chaos is an arcade game where kids must navigate the toys across a busy highway. Toy Shelf Showdown is a three-level game where children help Buzz assemble a rocket ship while avoiding bouncing nerf balls and hostile robots. In Luggage Lunacy, kids must rescue Woody who is trapped in a suitcase on a luggage conveyor belt! Logic and planning is required to save him. Kids will also find a one or two player game that is similar to Chinese Checkers, where the goal is to move critters into their opponent's corral. The most open-ended activity is Create-A-Comic where templates, props, characters and writing tools enable children to make their own Toy Story comic books. Like the movie, the software is a just-for-fun experience, with no strong learning value. Some of the activities are multilevel, some are arcade-like and all are fun, according to our testers. Overall, children adored the program, and while they found the games to be challenging, they didn't want to stop playing.
